Mary Sue Lockler, 74, passed away on February 21, 2022 at her home in Houston, Texas. She was born on November 4, 1947 in Houston, Texas to Ernest Brown Yeary and Gladys Elizabeth (McDonald) Yeary.
What she loved, she loved fiercely: God, her husband, her family, her friends. Her faith filled her with joy and was always her source of peace. Her deep love of and dedication to her husband Lynn and her family never wavered. Any holiday, birthday or other accomplishment was always a reason to celebrate together! Her love of family was closely followed by her love of animals - of all kinds. In addition to family pets, she rehabilitated injured wildlife for the
Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition for many years.
Gardening was a lifelong passion as well, with plumeria, hibiscus, pansies and geranium topping the list of favorites and she belonged to the Houston chapter of the Plumeria Society of America and held the office of Secretary for a time. If a plant flowered, she loved it. She adored the Christmas holiday, and decorated the house accordingly, leaving some favorite decorations up year-round.
She had a degree in Education from the University of Houston and was a first-grade teacher until her daughter, Lisa, was born.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Lynn S. Lockler; daughter, Lisa Cushing & husband Matthew; stepdaughter, Lauren Sheneman & husband Ed; grandsons, Robbie Benet & wife Claire, and Kyrin Armstrong; nieces & nephews: Scott Cook & wife Casey, Celia Cook-Reis & husband Kevin Reis, and Ray Cook & wife Stephanie; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her sister: Elizabeth Cook, and her parents.
