In Memory of
Noura Hajj
-

Noura Hajj Haddad was born in the village of Rmeich, South Lebanon on December 08th 1941. She died on March 26th 2023.

She is survived by her son Sharbel and her daughter Mariam. Noura was born into a Maronite family and was the third out of ten children. Her siblings were Farha, Maroun, Rafic, Afif, Joseph, Mariam, Rose, Kamil, and George. Being the third eldest in a large family, Noura took care of her younger siblings and became known in the family as the second mother. Taking care of seven younger siblings is challenging and doing so in a village in Southern Lebanon was nothing short of saintly. Her siblings, to this day, respect and love her, and appreciate how much she had done for them. She was dedicated, loving, selfless, and most importantly strong.

The same passion, dedication, and hard work that Noura provided her siblings she also provided her two children, Sharbel and Mariam. Noura always highlighted the importance of education to her kids and did the impossible to ensure they were both educated. Her children listened and followed. With their mother's direction and affection, both Sharbel and Mariam excelled in their schooling in a country where education was not guaranteed to all.

Sharbel became a geologist and attained highest degrees in subsurface sciences from prestigious international universities. He is currently employed with one of the largest oil and gas companies. He is the proud father of three beautiful little girls, Celine, Claire, and Christina.

Mariam is an English teacher and a mother of two beautiful boys, Christopher and Kevin.

Her husband Salam was her soulmate. His death during the Covid pandemic scarred and deeply hurt her. Her best friend and soulmate was no longer there. Shortly after, Noura moved in with her other best friend, her daughter, who already misses her much. Noura is an incredible soul whose absence is already felt. Her strong will and selfless dedication to others has left a void in those who have been privileged to have known her. Those who felt her selfless love will never forget. Her son Sharbel who spent time with his mother during her last days of her life will forever hold her deep in his heart.

Noura had a compassionate spirit and a kind heart toward everyone. We pray for the repose of her soul and for the consolation and peace of heaven to be upon her loved ones during this difficult time. We will miss her resolve. We will miss her deeply.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 AM on March 29, 2023 at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church (11935 Bellfort Village Dr, Houston, TX 77031).
