FIX IT MAN
When we first met and my car was broken
He offered to lend a helping hand
Then in his lifetime of service, mostly unspoken,
He became known as the fix it man.
He fixed houses, tvs, dolls, cars, computers, tables, knees,
Dishwashers, programs, kitchen sinks, frowns, and more
He did it for family, friends, bosses, strangers to please
For him life’s purpose was to create, resolve and restore.
But this imperfect mortal domain
Dealt him a disease that began to weaken his eyes
His kidneys, his heart, finally his brain
Yet he still fixed what he could-- continuing to try.
One day his body was damaged beyond repair
So his spirit left this mortal realm behind
But he whispers to us “don’t despair,
For I have now found peace of mind.
A broken body no longer stifles me
To do God’s errand as the fix it man.”
Who knows what needs in heaven he’ll see
And will fix them guided by the Master’s hand.
