Marcia - my deepest condolences to you and Rodney on your loss. I am so thankful that you and Rod became a part of my life thirty years ago. My family and I owe you so much for the warmth and compassion that you shared with us over the years in New Orleans, Houston and Lagos. Rod is one of the finest people that I know and I will forever remember his joy in all things and his amazing faith in God and family. May the Lord our God continue to bless and sustain you and your family and indeed all of us in this great loss.

To the Galatas Family,

My deepest condolences. I didn't know Rodney, but I knew his brother Lonnie. Lonnie was my first trainer when I was in the US Air Force. If Rodney was anything like Lonnie, then family was very important and family will help you get through these trying times.

May God Bless,

Richard Pieper

Marcia - my condolences to you and your family. I was very fortunate to be able to share in the strength and courage that Rod gave to each of his work colleagues during my time in Houston. The passion that Rod had for everything he did truly inspired me and I believe anyone that came in contact with him.

My prayers are with you, your family and Rod.

Marcia and Rodney, I really enjoyed working with Rod during his audit days in downtown Houston. He was a very kind and caring man who loved to talk about both of you. You made him so proud and he sure loved you both dearly. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. It was indeed a pleasure having him as my friend!

Rodney Galatas, Sr. - what a tower of a man he was. Composed and compassionate, practical, positive, knowledgeable, and hospitable. He had faith in the ability of adolescents to stretch themselves beyond the comfort zones in order to reach their individual potential. We will miss him. May entrust him now to our merciful and gracious God.

I worked for Rodney back in New Orleans when his department was getting ready to move to Houston. I had a great time working for them. My favorite story about him was one morning I came to work and he asked me what I did the night before. I said I'd gone to a movie. He asked me what movie and I told him. He asked me who I'd gone with and I said a friend. He asked, what friend? I said, my sister's boyfriend. He said oh, that's okay then. Turned out he and Marcia had seen me at the theatre and he just wanted to make sure I wasn't cheating on my husband, who was working in Angola! I was glad to see him just before he moved to Russia and I moved to China. I'm so sorry to hear about his passing.

Best next door neighbor I ever had. Rod was a great Dad, too. He was always coming up with safe ways for Rod Jr. to light firecrackers or shoot his BB gun. I am proud to be able to say that he touched my life. I still tell people stories about him making the squirrel trap out of a coffee can and an innertube.
Marcia, I am so sorry to hear about this. A friend at Exxon told me this morning. I sure miss you guys. Rod Jr., you should write down all of the things that you remember about your dad, so that you can share them with your kids later on.

God calls the good ones home early. Rest in Peace, Rod.
I won't forget you. Jay

Dear Marcia and Rodney: We were saddened to learn of Rod's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both. Though it's been quite a long time since the boys played baseball, we still look back at the photos of Coach Rod and Coach Paul and the boys all picking their noses, the photo will be even more cherished. He taught us all so much (especially the Brit who was clueless about the sport). Our deepest sympathy.

Dear Marcia and Rod,
We are so sad to hear about Rod's death. It is always a shame that occasions like this brings us together again. It has been so long since our paths crossed. You were at Lowes getting things for the new house, Rod was over visiting with John and helping Angelo wax the car, and your coming to Mary's graduation reception. Your memories are precious, and your strong faith will sustain you. Please know that we send our love and prayers to you both. No one ever knows the hour we are called home, and I pray for God's comfort and grace for you both.
Love,
Angelo, Barbara, John and Mary
