Dennis was a shining light in our family - he married my Mother Bunny in 2001 and he opened up his home and his heart to me and my family. We will miss him. We express our condolences to the Zapalac family

My favorite trips growing up were visiting my Grandma Bunny and Grandpa Dennis in Galveston. I will never forget night fishing, tubing on the boat, and watching horror movies with Dennis after everyone had gone to bed. I’m lucky to have had so many great summers with Dennis, and I’m grateful or our time together.

Dennis was a second father to me. While Mark and I were great friends, I never realized how great of a figure he was to me. It was Dennis who took me out in West Bay and introduced me to saltwater fishing, one of my great passions in life. Later in life I enjoyed stopping by to see Dennis and talk fishing or just shoot the ‘stuff’ with him by the boat dock. Thank you, Mr. Z for treating me like one of your sons. As we say, ‘tight lines and full stringers’’ Rest in peace.

Dennis was one of the most caring, fair, open-hearted people I have ever known. He was always there and loved his grandchildren very much. I regret that circumstances of life put distance between us all (myself and grandkids), but we are grateful to have had you in our lives and will treasure our memories with you. Love from us all and mXay you rest peacefully.

Dennis was always a great brother-in-law, and such a great uncle to our kids. I remember the times he would get down in the floor to play with them. The memories I have of him are happy, good memories. Forty-two years of wonderful memories. Forever in our hearts!
