Lavern Willis Austin, 58, passed away on February 10, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 1, 1958 to Samuel Lee Willis & Thelma Lee Woodfork Willis, who precede her in death.
Lavern worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 28 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of14 years, Darryl Austin; her son, Keitrick Willis; her daughter, Sharida Nicole Willis; her sister, Patricia Prather; her brothers, Walter Prather and Clifford Willis; five grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and extended family.
She is preceded in death by one brother, Gary Willis; and three sisters, Debra Sheik, Jenny Willis, & Brenda Willis.
Services are planned for Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service with a visitaiton from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and the funeral at 12:00 PM.
She will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery following the services (Gate time is 2:15 pm, lane #2, for those attending).
