In Memory of
Matthew Milliken "Tyler"
Tyler was born on May 28, 1991 in Kingsport, Tennessee. From the very beginning, Ty was a joy and inspiration to all he came in contact with. He was truly a free spirit. Everyone that had the privilege to love and know Ty can be comforted from by the fact he now resides with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ our Heavenly Father.
From an early age, Ty was active in all sports but his main passion was football. Ty loved football, and the time he spent with all of his “buds” as members of the Pecan Grove Hurricanes and Travis Tigers. He also loved to attend UT football games with his dad and brother, along with the Ellison and Stotlercrew.
Tyler attended Grace Community Bible Church and as was an active member of the youth organization for much of his middle and high school years. Tyler graduated from Fort Bend Travis High School in 2010, a proud member of the school’s first four year graduating class. Ty attended Texas Tech University in the fall semester of 2010.
Tyler is survived by his loving parents Mark and Sheryl and his older brother Michael. He is also survived by his grandparents Jan and Jean Brown, Jimmy and Jackie Harris, Jean Milliken and many other loving relatives and friends in Pecan Grove and the surrounding areas. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Milliken Jr.
While Tyler’s time with us was short, his influence is everlasting. He will always be remembered for his love for family and friends, and his passion for life. He lives on in others through his generous life giving and enhancing donations to the LifeGift organization.
A celebration of Tyler’s life and visitation will be held at Grace Community Bible Church in Richmond, Texas at on Thursday March 3, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be at Grace on Friday March 4, at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tyler’s remembrance to the Travis High School Athletic Booster Club at www.travistigers.com, the Grace Community Bible Church at www.insidegrace.org or the Grace International Children’s Foundation at www.ugandaorphans.org.

I lost my Mom in 1990 and when I go to visit her, the breeze comes and I feel her presence even to this day.

No words can truly comfort any of you during this time. All that can actually do that is a memory. We come into this world never knowing how long we will be afforded. What makes the difference is the life that is lived between those 2 things. I have no doubt that Tyler lived his 20 years to the fullest and I can see that in the amazing words you wrote about him. I will never know what pain you personally feel and I may never truly be able to understand it in the manner you do. But as a fellow human being on this planet I can say this. My heart aches for you and only 2 things can ever allow us to move forward in this life ... Time and Memory. Neither will change what happened, but the ultimate tribute that any person can claim is that they left a legacy. That can be done in 1 year of life or in 100 years of life. May you find peace in being surrounded by family, friends and the memory of Tyler. Good luck to you all ... my thoughts are with you.

I wanted to let you know how much I love you and your family. We love Tyler so much! Thank you for sharing him with us. Blake and I have enjoyed sharing stories about him this week. Most of them have made us laugh so hard. Just thinking about him puts a smile on my face. My best memories are at UT football games. He was my “buddy” at the games. He would “fill” me in if I didn’t know what the guys were talking about. I also enjoyed the time he stayed at our house. I had to get on to Blake for watching an inappropriate HBO series show with him, but Tyler would reassure me it was okay for him to watch…I made them change the channel! I had the pleasure of spending time with him at a few Grace Youth group functions. He was in my group at camp in Nacogdoches. I learned a lot from him. He was so funny and so happy. Austin loves Tyler too; he brought Austin home several times after accidently being left outside. Y’all did such a great job raising a sweet, caring, happy polite son. He always had the best manners, even always saying yes mama to me. I know he loved his family so much. He always had the best things to say about all of you.
I am so sorry that your time with him was cut short, but it is a comfort to know he is now with our Heavenly Father. We have been praying for you and your family all week and will continue to do so. We love you and treasure our friendship with you. Please call us if you need anything. I hope you will come and stay with us soon.

John and I are very sorry not to be there, we are keeping in contact with the boys. Jeremy said the Celebration of Tyler's Life was difficult but very well done. The amount of people that attended had to give you comfort. We know the future will be difficult, that normal will never be again, but be comforted in knowing that God is with you always, and Tyler is with God. May he sore above us as our Guardian Angel.
