Michael L. Pass, the one and the only, passed away on May 23, 2023, at the age of 70. Mike was quite the character, and he lived a life full of adventure, travel, meteorology, and fishing.
Mike started his career in meteorology with the National Weather Service in 1974 where he rose from an entry-level technician to Meteorologist in Charge of the Houston-Galveston office. He then brought his talents to TV, first as Chief Meteorologist for KSLA in Shreveport, then to KTBS (also in Shreveport), and Fox 26 in Houston. After retiring from the airwaves, he used his forecasting skills in the energy industry, working for Reliant Energy, Tractabel, and Centaurus Energy. He continued forecasting right up until the end, through his company, Mike Pass Weather Services LLC, where he was the go-to guy for all your forecasting needs.
In his free time, Mike loved camping, fishing, and taking impromptu road trips. He was always down for a good time, and he never met a craps game he didn't like. But Mike's true passion was meteorology, and he loved explaining the weather to anyone who would listen.
Mike leaves behind Carmen, his brother Theodore, his daughter Robin, his sons Bryan and Matthew, his daughter-in-law Emily, and his grandkids Simone, Lara, and Laurel. The list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the hundreds of lives he touched through his mentorship, lifelong friendships, and welcoming on-air personality. He was predeceased by his parents, Myron and Charlene Pass.
