I don’t think we will ever truly understand why.

All I can say is thank you. Thank you for the countless moments of love, sisterhood, fun, and laughter. You taught me how to Soulja Boy, how to Walk It Out, and most importantly, how to step out of my shell and truly live.

You were the one who gave Erick that extra push to ask me out because you just couldn’t hold onto the secret for more than two minutes. You hid so many love letters for me, and your family gave me rides to school every time I missed the bus, just so I wouldn’t get in trouble. You never once made me feel guilty for being busy, for being a mom, or just for life happening. No matter how much time passed, every time we reconnected, it was as if we had never been apart.

One thing I regret is not pushing harder to hear your struggles because you never shared them. You were the most selfless person I knew—always focusing on the good, always turning any situation into something hilariously awkward, leaving us no choice but to laugh.

You didn’t have to be so kind to me. We could have just been two girls who rode the bus together. But instead, you became such a meaningful part of my life.

I will never forget you, Tay Tay. I will honor every word you ever shared with me, I thank you for the big sign you left me, and I will dance and love the way you taught me.

Love you, girl. 🤍🕊
