CHRISTOPHER CORBETT, 57, youngest son of Patrick James Corbett and Anna Melvina Bergman Corbett, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 after a courageous three year battle with Colon Cancer. Chris was born Nov. 27, 1949 in Baytown, Texas where he spent his childhood years among a loving family. Church, Family, School, Little League, Teenage Softball and Boy Scouts were his foundation blocks.
Chris attended Lee Jr. College followed by two years of study abroad at The University of Paris (France) and The University of Munich (Germany). He received his BA in Psychology from the University of Houston December 22, 1972 and his MBA in Marketing on May 14, 1977. Chris met the love of his life, Correll Gaut, while both were working for Cities Service. They married August 22, 1981 at Palmer Episcopal Church in the Medical Center. Their son, Nathaniel, was born in 1985, and will be a senior at the University of Texas in Austin this fall. Chris and Correll had 26 loving and happy years together. They were active members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in the Heights.
Christopher had a very strong work ethic. In 1977 & 1978 Chris worked for Milchem, Inc., a subsidiary of Baker International as a Programmer-Analyst. He worked For Cities Service Oil & Gas Company from 1979 thru 1983. From 1979 to 1981 Chris worked as Planning Analyst in the Planning and Budget Department/Eastern Hemisphere. From March of 1981 thru August 1983
Chris worked as an Economic Evaluation Analyst I Engineering & Operations Department I East Asia and Australia Regions. He worked for Conoco, Inc. from 1983 thru 1994 as a Sr. Systems Analyst I Production Engineering Services. He was a project leader for maintaining the production economics model used by Conoco international subsidiaries. He worked on agreements with Egypt, and the UK With his educational background, work experience, ability to speak French and German, computer expertise in Fortran, COBOL, and Oracle, Chris joined Compaq, which later became Hewlett Packard. Chris was a Project Manager in H. P.'s International Division. He continued to work for H P from home via computer as long as he was physically able.
Chris was an avid reader, primarily non-fiction, always striving to improve his mind; loved History and traveling, enjoyed sports (baseball, basketball, and football). He coached Little League and Soccer and volunteered at HISD's Clifton Middle school and Waltrip High school. He enjoyed working on family genealogy and is descended from one of the founding families of Boerne, Texas.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Ella Correll Gaut Corbett of Houston; son, Nathaniel Christopher Correll Corbett of Austin; sister, Kathryn Melvina Cooling-Triola of Baytown; brothers, Patrick James Corbett, Jr. of Baytown and Billy Wayne Corbett of Houston; sister and brother-in-law Mary Etta and Jack Farquhar of Houston; niece, Kelly Corbett Ford of Spring; Nephews Patrick Cooling of Houston, Michael Cooling of Huntsville, Brian Corbett of Houston and Vince Corbett of Baytown; Aunts Mary Elizabeth Glasier & Mrs. Bobby (Laverne) Eulenthal of Taylor; Dorothy Corbett of San Francisco, California; Mrs. Stuart (Grace) Bergman and Mrs. Christopher (Pauline) Bergman, both of San Antonio; many cousins and family members in Houston, Magnolia, San Antonio, Taylor, Boerne, Junction and other small towns in the Hill Country, in Arizona and Ohio and many good friends and co-workers.

Funeral Services are provided by Beresford Funeral Home, 13501 Alief-Clodine, Houston, TX 77082. Services will be at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1819 Heights Blvd, Houston, Texas 77008 on Friday August 24, 2007 at 11:30 A. M. The Reverend Barbara Lewis will be officiating. Organist is Dr. William Gilbert, and the Viola will be played by Mr. Travis Galbraith. Readers at the service will be Kelly Corbett Ford and Debbie Schulen. The Eulogy will be delivered by lifelong friends Roy and Virginia Montgomery.
Honorary Pall Bearers are: Chip Hubbard, Eugene Kelly, Tom Newhouse, Dennis Schulen, Chris Skeen, and Jim Tisdale. Ushers are Nathan Hubbard and James Skeen.
