Ellen Romstadt Vascik, 70, was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully in her hometown of Houston, Texas on November 23, 2025 with her family by her side.
Ellen was born to Joseph and Emily Romstadt on October 26th, 1955. Her mother passed when she was 3 and her father passed when she was 7 years old. She lived with her older brother Joesph until 6th grade then lived with her foster mother Marjorie Palm. Ellen was enrolled in a world-renowned boarding school, Andrew School for Girls with full scholarship from 7th grade till high school graduation.
She then attended the University of Toledo and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music where she met her husband, Paul Vascik. They were united in holy matrimony on October 20th, 1979. Together they had their daughter Melody.
Music always brought Ellen joy. She composed various songs, obtained copyrights for her musical compositions, played the piano, the guitar, and had the most angelic voice. She taught music to people of all ages. From the tiniest infants to those in their golden years. She was also passionate about helping the poor. Ellen volunteered at the social ministries at her parish, helping to distribute food to families in need. She loved going to Mass and Adoration, the outdoors, and spending time with family.
Ellen is survived by her loving husband Paul Vascik, their daughter Melody and future son in-law Kacey Cox, Grandson Aurum and bonus grandchildren, Evella and Kacey Cox Jr.; her siblings, brother Gilbert and his wife Pattie, brother Thomas and his wife Caroline (Lina), Sister Ruth, Sister Mary Ann, and brother Daniel and his wife Shelly, foster brother George Palm and his Wife Sue, foster Sister Kittie and her husband Steve, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Joseph Louis Sr., Emily Ruth, and siblings Joseph L. Jr., Janice, Michael and foster parents Marjorie and George Palm.
A visitation will be on Tuesday evening, December 2, 2025 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service from 5pm to 9pm. On Wednesday, December 3, 2025 services will be held at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Community (13350 Ashford Point Dr. Houston, TX 77082) starting with visitation at 9:30 am and Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery (12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077) at 12 noon.
