Jerry Lavon Looney
-

The Book of Life opened for Jerry Lavone Looney, July 10, 1948 to the proud parents of Bishop Willie Looney and Lucy Mae Blanks in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They both preceded him in death.

He attended Chattanooga High School and after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge. In 1968, while still serving his country, he was married to Ms. Ruth Ann Looney and this union produced three sons, Darrell, Allen, and Maurice.

Jerry was a great chef and he loved to show off his talents. He served for years as a chef for Shoney Restaurant and his final position was Kitchen Manager at Solera of West Houston Health Care center.

Jerry lived in Katy, Texas and he enjoyed his home life. He was very content cheering on his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers and his favorite basketball team, The Los Angeles Lakers. When neither of his teams were playing, he enjoyed watching his westerns, especially Gunsmoke. he was called to his new place of residency on Monday morning October 30, 2017.

He was a loving husband to his current mate of 30 years, Mrs. Barbara Looney, a devoted father and always the peacemaker. He will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters Loretta Coker and Maxine Bell and his brother Robert Looney.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Barbara Looney and his ten children Darrell and Allen Looney of Texas City, Texas and Maurice Looney, Satrick Huff, and Latwilley Pope of Katy, Texas. Janice Green of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Lavette and Joleatrice Huff of Greenville, Mississippi, Lakisha Huff and Latwanna Pop of Katy, Texas. Two brothers David (Sarah) Looney of Birmingham, Alabama and George (Carol) Bennett of Eugene, Oregon. Two sisters Maudell (Douglas) Foster and Sarah (Jerry) Matthews of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Three brother-in-laws Robert Huff (St. Louis), James (Loto) Huff Jr. (Renton, Washington) and Willie Earl Huff (Katy, Texas). Five sister-in-laws Ida Mae Lewis (Cleveland, Mississippi), Betty Davis and Arlinda (Roosevelt) Davis of Florissant, Mo., Dorothy Young and Sarah Howard of Greenville, Ms. Mrs. Ruth Ann Looney of Texas City, Texas. A host of grands, great grands, great great grands, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Wow! My big brother is gone....I just found this out last night during a search of the internet. Jerry we use to keep in touch until dad transitioned. I hate that we lost touch even with David. May you rest in paradise laughing and telling your funny stories with our dad.
