Uncle Jesse, we will miss your earthly body. Some day, we will meet each other in heaven to live our eternal life together. We'll get a good game of poker or dominoes going.

I send my deepest condolences and wishes for a peaceful acceptance of Jesse's transition, to all of his friends and family. Even through the sorrow of loss of the physical body, know that he is not truly "gone," but merely a thought or prayer away. May God bless and embrace you all, just as Jesse is embracing you, as he departs for a place where there is no pain or suffering. Love transcends.

Jesse went to Roy Miller. I was an IWA student. We met when he was 17 and I was 16, at a time when teenagers had real responsibilities and carved out time for social activities. The internet and video games were still years away from being on the scene. We joined social clubs for entertainment and raised money to sponsor dances to have such groups as Los Dinos, the Royal Jesters, and Sunny and the Sunliners. We were young fun-loving teenagers, devoted to our families and filled with hopes of a bright future. And that’s exactly what Jesse had. He was a hard-working student, exceptional in math and an amazing athlete. His high school coaches chose him as captain of the varsity football team, and he took that job seriously. He had the admiration and respect of not only his team members but his coaches, the student body, Buc fans, and of course his family. College football scouts had their eye on Jesse early on, but he held out for an offer from the University of Houston, which the Corpus Christi Caller Times captured in their headline lead with, “Houston gets Jesse Budd.” What a great article and tribute to him, and a well-deserved one. Everyone wanted a part of Jesse, after all he was a football star and a really nice guy with a big teddy-bear heart. He had many friends and many admirers. He managed to carve out time to be with his friends, but always had a special devotion to his mother, helping her with her church projects whenever he could. He loved to go to the dances but always stood in the sidelines watching everyone. No one could get him to dance, not even a slow dance. When he took me to my senior prom, I was expecting to maybe get one slow dance from him but instead he surprised me by asking me to dance to every single tune, even the fast ones. Can you imagine, this big muscular football player dancing fast and furious. We laughed so hard. He also loved to fish with his buddies especially with his cousin James Budd. Jesse was a planner as well as a high achiever. He made a plan and stuck to it. He got his Accounting degree, then he got married and had his girls. When we became reacquainted 34 years later, we shared stories of our families, our spouses and children. All he could talk about were his girls, Laura and Julie. He was immensely proud of them and loved them with all his heart. I have many fond memories of Jesse that will always remain with me. His fun spirit and hearty laughter will always be with us. Jesse is not gone, he’s only slipped into the next room with our Creator. He is having the time of his life, most likely playing football with fellow buc players preceding him in transition.

Jesse, you sure did good having those two beautiful daughters. I know they meant so much to you and they are truly going to miss you. I am so glad I got to see you walk them down the isle a year ago. I remember those old times of the Halloween parties - Mr. Budd Flower, all the get togethers through-out the years, you falling over the back row seats at the Summit and hitting the wall & being amazed how much you loved playing racquet ball and deep sea fishing. I'm so saddened that your life at the end was put through so much hell. You seemed to be a trooper throughout it all.
You will be missed big time.

Your sister-in-law,
Ruth

I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of my friend Jesse. I got to know him playing baseball at Westside Little League. He was such a competitor. I remember he hit a homerun off me in a game and he never let me forget it.

Jesse was a great guy, a super athlete and a wonderful friend. I enjoyed visiting with him during our Miller reunions and admired his many personal accomplishments and the love for his family. May he rest in peace in the hands of the Lord. My deepest condolences to Jesse's family. Our prayers are with you.
