In Memory of
Kimie Kinoshita Carr
-

Kimie Kinoshita Carr was born March 5, 1962 in Nogata Japan. She was raised by her parents Haruchika and Takeko Kinoshita, and had one younger brother Masaharu, eight years her junior.  Kimie was a happy and devoted daughter.  She befriended Yoko in high school, who later introduced her to the Unification Church.  After pursuing a year of college, Kimie joined the Church in 1980; she was 19 years old.

At 24, she came to America to serve as a missionary.  She was matched to Steven Carr in 1987 and they were later blessed in Holy Marriage in 1989 in Seoul, Korea as part of the 1275 Couples Blessing.  During their two-year engagement, Steve and Kimie visited each other in their respective missions and wrote notes to each other and spoke by phone from time to time.

While in America, Kimie volunteered for both MFT and National Headquarters’ witnessing team. Likewise, after joining Steve in Houston to begin their married life, she made herself available in public activities. Ministry was her middle name, and she was involved in many different ones. Among those most dear to her was outreaching to other pastors and churches, and in the process she and Steve became beloved by those pastors and their churches. She worked on the Houston Family Church newsletter and supported her husband during his stint as Houston community leader. Whenever Japanese missionaries visited Houston, Kimie happily took care of them and supported their work.  She was centrally active in the KODAN missionary effort.

In 1997, with three children in tow, she returned to her Japanese hometown to visit her folks for three weeks. There, she shared the Blessing with all her relatives and friends. Kimie spent her whole family life here in Houston ever since arriving in 1994.

In October 2010 Kimie was diagnosed with aggressive rectal colon cancer at level 3 and fought it for nine months before succumbing on July 13, 2011. Fortunately, in her last days, she was surrounded by loving relatives and brothers and sisters. Even her, mother and brother from Japan were able to arrive in time. The Carr Family is grateful to your outpouring of love.

Kimie is survived by her husband, Steve, her daughter, Amoreana, 17, and sons David Fowler, 31, Timothy, 15, and Jonathan, 13.

Kimie will lie in state at the Houston Unification Church, 1423 Upland Dr., Houston, TX 77043 from July 15-17. Her Seung Hwa Memorial Service will be held there Sunday, July 17, 4 - 6 PM (Viewing preceding from 2 - 4 PM). For condolences, please visit www.beresfordfunerals.com

Kimie, our great friend had the most beautiful positive attitude towards life. She was always giving both love and devotion to her family, our community and her co-workers. We cannot recount the hundreds of times she offered her beautiful smile and helped those who knew her. We will miss her greatly, and we know she has a special place in Heaven.

I remember so vividly the first time I saw Kimie-san, as we attended the same matching in 1987. I was observing her surprise as she was introduced to my brother Steve! Fast forward about 16 years when our family moved to Houston, Kimie-san was one of the very people who really welcomed us and her family opened up their home to us. I was always struck by her pleasant manner and voice, her patience with people, and her willingness to take action. Even in her fight with cancer, she took it in stride and never complained, but held on to her faith in God. She had incredible dignity and courage which will remain in my heart forever.
