Adefunke Adetokunbo Adigun (nee Ojo) was born on October 15 1958 in Manhattan, New York, to Arc. Alfred Adewuyi Olayiwola Ojo (of blessed memory) and Chief (Mrs) Modupe Ojo of the Ojo’badan clan of Ibadan, Nigeria.
She completed her early education at the Victory Primary School, Oke Ado Ibadan and the University of Ife Staff School (Ibadan campus), She attended the prestigious Fiwasaiye Girls Grammar School, Akure from 1971 to1975.
She thereafter proceeded to and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Ibadan in 1979 and 1981 respectively.
Adetokunbo enrolled and commenced a Ph.D program at the University of Ibadan in 2009, but could not complete it due to a sudden downturn in her health.
She taught social science at Lalupon Community College & Bishop Philips Academy between 1983 and1990 while doubling as head
At the peak of her illustrious career, she was appointed director at the Oyo State Library Service Board until her retirement.
She considered herself to be woman of faith and received the lord Jesus Christ and baptism of the Holy Spirit. She was a devoted member of St. Theresa’s society at the St. Ignatius of Loyola, Ibadan and later became a member and served in the hospitality department at Living Word Chapel, Houston Texas, and this was part of the great testimony of her life as she battled and overcame a complexity of illnesses during this period without a lot of attention. Her enduring faith saw her through several treatment regimens over the course of many years.
She was known to love unconditionally, was selfless, peaceful and hospitable.
Adefunke enjoyed singing God’s praises and praying, cooking, movies, reading and travelling.
In 1981 she married Ayodele Adigun and the marriage was blessed with a beautiful daughter Bolaji.
She is remembered by her children; Bolaji & Olukayode Oyedeji, grandchildren; Daniel & David Oyedeji, mother; Chief Mrs Modupe Ojo, siblings; Taye, Junmoke Ojo, Adedamola and Oyinade Ojo, Folashade Ojo, Olufemi Ojo and Adebayo Ojo, cousins, nieces, nephews, relations and friends.
Continue to rest on in the bosom of the Lord till we meet to part no more.
