In Memory of
Allan Forrest King
-

Allan Forrest King passed from this life and into God's glorious Kingdom on October 12th 2015, he was 88 years old. Allan was born in Houston, TX to Edgar (Bill) William and Elaine Medaris King on March 10th 1927. Allan graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1944. He was also active in the R.O.T.C. where he reached rank of Cadet 2nd Lieutenant. June 1944 he enrolled into the US Navy where he completed boot camp in San Diego, CA and then sailed to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and later to the island of Okinawa, Japan. After diligently serving his country Allan was honorably discharged from active duty in June of 1946 with the rank of Storekeeper V (aviation) Third Class. Allan came back to Houston where he enrolled in the University of Houston and earned a B.S. in Geology in 1951. Soon afterward Allan began a career as an exploration geophysicist shooting seismic in the field with such company's as Sohio and Skully Oil Co. Wanting to settle down and raise a family he took a more stable inside position with Seiscom Delta, and finally retiring as a Senior Geophysicist from Louisiana Land and Exploration Co. in 1986.

On a blind date arranged by mutual friends, Allan met Dottie Florence Schange in which they later became Mr. and Mrs. Allan F King in 1961. Making their home in Houston, Tx the dedicated couple raised their three sons in the Christian faith; James Russell born in 1955, Andrew Forrest in 1964 and Christopher William in 1968.

Allan dedicated his life to providing for his family, not only financially, but spiritually as well attending St. Georges Episcopal Church, Memorial Drive Methodist Church, and finally Second Baptist Church Woodway. Allan had many talents, but especially working with his hands is where he hit his stride. Passing on his skills to his sons in fishing, sailing, camping, little league baseball, shade tree car mechanic, wood working, traveling, volunteer work, and home handy man repairs to name a few. He was also a fantastic tutor in algebra, but not so much in grammar and medieval literature...not any sort of literature for that matter. He did enjoy reading and had a real knack for working those pesky word jumble puzzles in the paper, he could solve them as easily as he could breath.

Approximately four years following the untimely death of his wife, Dottie, Allan met Peggy Stewart in which they became close life long friends traveling the world together. Mixing in much volunteer work, they brought hope to many they came in contact with.

Allan will be remembered as first class husband, father, friend, help to the needy, .....

Allan is preceded in death by his grandparents; William Lawley and Lonie Victoria Davis King. Parents; Edgar (Bill) and Elaine Madaris King. Wife; Dottie Florence Schange King. He is survived by his three sons; James, Andrew, Chris and wife, Marie. Grandson; Robert A King. Granddaughter; Lauren King. Sister; Mrs. Marsha Sample.

Andrew and Chris,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man, and I loved him too! I always enjoyed talking with him every time I came over. He was always so generous and welcoming. He had a great sense of humor, that made it all the more fun! I've got some of the best memories of my life over there. I will truly miss him. Love and prayers.

Please know that I am thinking of you and the rest of your family. Allan was a thoughtful and generous man with a great sense of humor. Time goes by too quickly without realizing it. I have memories of happy times together. I will always remember those.

Allan was a fun guy - he and my friend loved to work puzzles together years ago - he had a great sense of humor. He was blessed with long life, but time does pass too quickly - and we don't mean to lose contact, but we do. I know we will all be together with Jesus, and that is very comforting. God bless you Andrew and all your family and friends. Love, Doe Cantrell
