In Memory of
Barry Aydelotte Harsh
-

Harsh, Barry A., 73, passed away on August 19, 2007 in Houston, TX.. He was born on September 1, 1933 in Ponca City, OK. to David Franklin Barry Harsh "Polk" and Mildred Louise Harsh. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Marianne R. Harsh, his two daughters Jeanette Smith (Kenny), Anna Thomas (Clarence), and his four sons David (Joni), Joseph (Susie), Jason (Andrea), and Phillip (Courtney), twenty-four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Barry attended High School in Ponca City and graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1957. Barry was an Engineer by profession and his job took him and his family from Oklahoma to California and then to Texas, where his family has resided for 38 years. Barry was a devout Christian and enjoyed leading others to Christ. Barry was a humble man that served his community through leadership positions at work, church, and the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association. Barry was also a man that lived his life through duty, honor, commitment, and sacrifice. He even enjoyed playing golf and spending time on his farm when he wasn't busy with his family, which wasn't very often. It was a life of experiences growing up with Barry in Ponca City. The best part was attending Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater with Barry and our best friend Jim Gillert. The hiighlight of many a day was sharing a meal that Jennie would prepare. As we each moved on in our lives those times were always remembered aand talked about when we would see each other on rare occasions. I will miss you Barry. But, you will always be remembered.

I have fond memories of Barry during our years at PoHi. He was special and fun to be around. To learn of his passing is indeed sad.

To know that he had such a full, rewarding life is heartwarming.

My sincere sympathy to his family.

Mere words cannot even begin to express our sincerest and heartfelt sympathy. We can all learn from Barry Harsh-he obviously was a wonderful man and a great leader in the community. We have learned so much from David, Joni and their children and we are so grateful to know and be a part of such a wonderful & giving family. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort during this very difficult time. I hope that one day you can look back at his life with joy and peace-not just the sadness that is so difficult to bear now. Let us know if there is anything we can do. Chuck, Brenda, Lexi and Sara Winfree.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time in your lives. My Dad called me to tell me about your loss, knowing how much your Dad meant to me and to all of the Bourgeois'. Although I have not seen any of you in many years I still think of you all and of all our time spent at the baseball fields in Spring Branch. Your Dad was a very special man, a true one of a kind. God Bless all of you today and always.

Barry gave me a chance that no one else did. Without that chance, I would not be where I am today. Thank you Barry for your kindness.

It was a great joy to work with Barry. He was a true "Gentleman". He loved to talk about his wife and family with pride and such kindness. He truly loved his kids, grandchildran and great-grandchildren. Did we talk about work on Monday mornings? No, he filled me in on all the fun stuff he did. Pulling cows out of the mud (NOT FUN), fishing with the grandkids, watching them play ball and ride horses.
We are all on this earth for awhile. Treasure the moment but enjoy the memories. I know he will be missed.

Mr Harsh will be remembered for his devotion to his lord and savior Jesus Christ, his family and to the countless youngsters he coached and sponsored through the years with the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association and the many years he supported the Tiger Baseball program at Spring Woods. He will be missed but never forgotten.

I grew up and graduated Ponca City High School with Barry. During our high school years we had many occasions to pal around together. Barry was always fun loving and willing to try anything and I enjoyed being with him and sharing experiences and escapades that only come along once in a lifetime. After high school we went separate ways and never were able to make contact again. I often wondered where he went and what he became and now I know. He married, raised a family, was well respected and contributed to society. Barry you may be gone but you will always be remembered. My sympathy goes out to your family for your loss.

We had a lot of fun attending the drafting and Desighn school at Oklahoma A&M. I got too know Barry much better and I would ride back to Ponca on week nights the last semester. I always wanted to get in a round of golf together but I will always remember you when I go out to play or when I look at a drafting table.
