Our Beloved Charlie (Gooch) was called to be with his Heavenly Father, October 17th 2011.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Nita Crawford-Couch; Brother, Joe Donald Couch & wife Jolene; Sons, Charles Steven Couch, Bruce Allen Couch & Mark Anthony Couch; Daughter, Cynthia Lou Couch; Grandchildren, Heather Renee Couch-Hamilton & David Allen Couch.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Alicia Couch; Brother, Clyde Bramlett Couch Jr; & Sisters, Alyne Couch-Weidman, Jean Couch-Benson & Jane Couch-Johnson.
Charlie was born July 15th, 1929 in Dallas, Texas. He began his well known auto career with Ford Motor Company at the age of eighteen.
He put a hold on his auto career when he enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He proudly served his country. He fought in the Korean War and remained in the U.S. Marine Reserves until 1958. At his time of passing, he was a member of the McLemore Detachment in the Houston Area.
After his time in the service he returned to Ford and had a long and successful career. This first retirement was to his own used car lot. After a successful run he retired AGAIN (his second retirement). However as everyone knows, Charlie loved people and could not stay retired. He started working part time for Ed’s Pharmacy delivering prescription drugs to area customers. Charlie had a special way with people and was loved by all who knew of him. He remained with the pharmacy until his illness demanded his final retirement. His laughter, warmth and friendship will be so dearly missed by all who knew this fun guy in suspenders named Charlie Couch.
His love of family will be most missed. He loved his wife Nita with all his heart. He loved his children and their families as well as his wife’s family members. He loved them all and they all loved Charlie.
