In Memory of
Cruzita Niño Rolf
-

Cruzita Niño Rolf, 78, passed away on March 28, 2015 in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 14, 1936 in Helena, Texas to Leandro Rodriguez Niño and Trinidad Ibarra Niño.

She resided in Donna, Texas and moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois in 1969 where she raised her family. In 1984, she moved back to Texas, and settled in Houston where she remained the rest of her life.

Cruzita was a "Jill of all trades". While in Chicago Heights, she spearheaded a food co-op for the needy, and helped in the community as a social worker as needed. Cruzita was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While raising her children she finally completed the GED program and graduated from High School. She was very proud of that. She continued her education and enrolled in college, taking business and computer science classes.

Cruzita loved music, beer garden German polka music, Nortena and any music where she would grab the hem of her skirt and start kicking one leg then another. She loved it when one of her sons would grab her and give her a twirl around the room. She loved to dance. Then she would smile and make us all laugh. She loved the classics and instilled the love of music in all her children and that love for music continues in her grandchildren.

Cruzita worked for Dickies as a seamstress, making anything from children's clothing to wedding dresses. She loved to crochet, knit, and all kinds of crafts that she would learn at Relief Society. She was also a great cook. There was nothing she didn't know how to make.

She had her own day care center, and worked as a bus driver for HISD where she translated workbooks from English to Spanish so that the bus drivers would be able to speak and understand the children of the increasing Hispanic population.

Cruzita was a world traveller. She visited countries as far as China, even climbing the Great Wall, to Teotijuacan in Mexico. She wanted to visit Russia. She embraced life to the fullest. After all her adventures she would return to her beloved Texas. She loved her Texas oh Texas. She was truly a Yellow Rose.

She is survived her children, Hekter Niño Garza-Rolf, Antonio Garza & wife Barbara, Enedelia Garza-Carr & husband Jeffrey, Edna Felipe de Araujo & husband Leonardo, Ethel “Ellie” Garza Krieger & husband Bryan, Henry Garza, Edith Garza Romero & husband Carlos, Ephraim Reuben Rolf & wife Alisa; her step-children: Jaqui Rolf Gibbons, Brian Rolf, Terry Rolf, Scott Rolf, and Robin Rolf; 14 grandchildren, Angelica Jennifer (Garza) Askin & husband Joe, Marshall Allen Krieger & wife Heather, Christina Alissa Meijer & husband Robin, Vincent Garza, Patrina Rose Garza, Salvador Garza, Adan Garza, Jasmine Paulina Romero, Graciela Garza, Alexzandra Elizabeth Carr, Ella Rolf, Annie Rolf, Sara Rolf, and Jonathan Rolf; and 5 great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Askins, Jacob Askins, Adan Askins, Ava Askins, Saylor Mae Krieger.

She is preceded in death by: her husband,Lawrence Milton Rolf and her parents, Leandro Niño and Trinidad Ibarra Niño.

Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday, April 2, 2015 Interment will commence at 12:00 noon at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.

This is my story: Although I have many memorable experiences with mom, one most memorable was when I returned from Military service and moved into my own apartment. I heard a knock on the door and outside was my mom, with bags of groceries. this is the love between a mother and a son. Although I had been away from home for several years at this point, this one experience is proof that a parent loves a child no matter how much time or distance is between them. this has been shown to me throughout the years. It was then, many years ago, at that apartment door, I made my peace with my mother. And although time and distance has kept us apart, I cherish the memories that I have with mom.
Love, your son, Tony

Mama was my cheerleader, but mostly my friend. I don't know what I ever did to deserve such a great mama, but I will forever be grateful that the Lord sought to bring her into my life. Thanks, Mama, for being part of my journey. Love and miss you daily!
