Dennis Edward Maxson, 61, of Houston, Texas, passed away January 22, 2016 at the Regent Care Facility in Kingwood, Texas after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 29, 1954, in Celina, Collin County, Texas, the youngest child of Claud Lee and Winnie Juanita (Francis) Maxson.

Dennis attended early school in Prosper and transferred to the Celina, Texas school system in 1967. He graduated salutatorian of his senior class in Celina in May of 1972. Dennis entered Texas A&M University after High School graduation and worked with Otis Engineering Corporation in a Co-op employment while he was attending the university. He continually received a “distinguished student” designation while attending there. In 1977, he graduated from A&M University magna cum laude with a degree in mechanical engineering.

After graduation, he started work with Atlantic Richfield Co. (Arco Oil and Gas) in Houston and Midland, Texas as an operations and reservoir engineer. From 1993 to 1998, Dennis worked as a Design Engineer for Hydrolex, Inc. in Longview, Texas, then later working on his own as a Consulting Engineer for Maxson Engineering Company in Longview. In 2003, Dennis began working in the Oil Industry Services in FMC in Houston, Texas until illness resulted in his retirement.

During all of Dennis’s working years, he especially thrived in the church work he was able to do. He was diligent and willing to teach others in understanding the Word of God. Brother Dennis was a great blessing to our little family. I will be forever grateful for his fervent prayers for us after our second miscarriage and his fervent prayers when we found out we were expecting again. He always asked how me and the baby were doing throughout our pregnancy, he was delighted to see sonogram pictures, and he was so excited to meet Brayleigh when she was born. He never let his illness and battle with cancer stand in the way of asking about others, praying for others, and seeking to save lost souls. He was a warrior for God, and our family loved him dearly.
