In Memory of
Dr. Stella Chinwe Anakor
-

Dr. Stella Chinwe Anakor, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 61 on June 20, 2025. She was born on January 1, 1964, in Dublin, Ireland, to Dr. Eusebius Chidumeand Patricia Chidume (née Omili).

Chinwe’s life was defined by compassion, strength, faith, and an unwavering commitment to service. She studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. When she came to America, she answered a deeper calling to nursing. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and worked as a registered nurse for many years. She served in a variety of roles that showcased her leadership, resilience, and heart for healing.

Chinwe was a proud member of the Nimo Town Development Union (NTDU) and Egbengwu Development Union (EDU), where she remained actively involved in community development efforts. Her generous spirit extended far beyond her professional life. For many years, she dedicated herself to purchasing clothes and essential items to support those in need—often filling and shipping large boxes to Nigeria to bless the lives of the less fortunate. Her thoughtfulness and consistency brought joy and dignity to countless families, and her quiet giving reflected her deep humility and compassion.

On August 6, 1988, she married her beloved husband, Paul O. Anakor, after the two were introduced in Nigeria. Together, they built a joyful life rooted in love and faith—first in Kansas City, Missouri, and eventually in Houston, Texas, where they made their lasting home. They raised four kids together, and four grandchildren.

Chinwe loved traveling the world with Paul, designing elegant outfits, watching Nollywood films and YouTube videos, and “gisting” (chatting) with her family. She had a unique eye for fashion and beauty, and her creativity shone through her style and generous spirit. Her presence was warm and steady—she embodied grace, strength, and devotion in everything she did.

She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Paul O. Anakor; her children, Nkechi Pettway, Ifeoma Okoye, Chinelo Anakor, and Okechukwu Anakor; and her grandchildren, Dean Pettway, Donovan Pettway, Sarah Okoye, and Noah Okoye. She also leaves behind her beloved mother, Patricia Chidume, and her siblings, Uchenna, Ngozi, Nneka, Afamefuna, and Tochukwu, as well as her son's in law, Chukwuma Okoye and Darius Pettway.

She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Eusebius Chidume, and her two children lost in miscarriage, Crystal and Ogechi Anakor.

Stella was more than a mother. She was the quiet strength behind every smile, the steady heart behind every storm, and the soul that kept our family rooted. She had a presence that couldn’t be ignored—a look that could say a thousand words, especially when she didn’t approve, and a smile that lit up every room she entered.

Even in her final days, when her voice grew quiet, her spirit never dimmed. She still gave the look, still let us know when we were fussing too much, still found ways to show her love. That was Stella—always present, always proud, always loving.

She poured her life into her children, her husband, and her family with unwavering love. She gave us her strength, her wisdom, and her faith. And though our hearts are broken, we are filled with gratitude for every moment we had with her.

She lives on in our memories, in the way we care for each other, in the values she taught us, and in the love that will never fade.

We will carry her legacy forward—with love, grace, and strength. Just like she did.

My Mommy was, so gentle, so true,
A light of love in all she would do.
Though heaven called and took you away,
Your warmth still lives in my heart each day.
Your voice, your strength, your tender care,
Whisper through memories everywhere."
Your love was quiet, your strength ran deep,
A steady flame we’ll always keep.
Though heaven holds you in its light,
Your memory walks with me each night.
In every tear, in every smile,
You’re still my Mommy, all the while.

Rest well, Mommy. You did beautifully. You were everything.

Chinwe My Sister,
The news of your journey from this world to eternity threatened my faith.
Yes, I know you were sick for sometime but, in my mind I taught our creator
would have restored you to good health for the sake of the poor, lame people
at the market places, mentally sick people at road sides, motherless baby
home in different local government areas. You carried out these
humanitarian activities on a regular basis during Easter and Christmas
periods.
On the same vein, you remembered also friends and relations. Your
generosity has no limit. It goes beyond the people you know. You were
generous to a fault. You were not stinkingly rich, but the much God gave
you, you shared and the funny thing about you is that you will always say
“Sister Anne, don’t mention the name of the giver, just tell them is
from a charitable organization” . Trying to do what the bible says in
“Matthew 6 vs 3” It was difficult for me, and so I did not comply 100%, I
had to mention names particularly when the beneficiary will insist that I
should mention name.
Chinwe, your garment while on your earthly exile was Humily. What you owe
to anyone that you came across is love, real love and never a fake one.
My heart is heavy for we have lost an angelic soul and a philanthropist in our
midst your beneficiaries are crying and are in deep sorrow.
I thank God for the type of husband He gave you who shared with you the
moments of sorrow and joy. What a perfect pair!
May God console you Paul for being a wonderful husband to our sister, your
children, grandchildren and Nneka who were always in your company all
through your sick parade as well as your other siblings.
Chinwe, thank you for the legacy you left behind. My sister truth must be
said, your life is a testimony that to love God is to love human. You were a
slave to honesty. Whatever you utter can never be a subject for verification.
Farewel Chinwe, Odi-uko na mba (Scarce commodity) !
Farewel Chinwe, Mmili enwe ilo !
Farewel kpakpa-ndo na amuke-amuke na etiti umuogbonye.
Chinwe nwannem, if Christianity is to be a criminal act, you will be definitely
be convicted for that, and because it is not; you are therefore, a perfect
candidate for heaven.
I cannot exhaust all I know about you but, your soft spoken voice, your
gentle nature, ever smiling face and dove like sweetness will always remain
in our memories. You are a wonderful sister to all.
May you find in God’s presence Light, Happiness and Peace which were
all you strive for while on earth. This is my prayer for you in the Mighty name
of Jesus. Amen.

CHINWE: THE MARRIAGE PACE-SETTER.
The marriage between Chinwe and the husband Paul could be likened to as a marriage in heaven.
Ab initio, Paul did not know Chinwe from Adam.
The genesis of their coming together stemmed from the fact that both parents people of substance in Nimo.
Dr Chidume was a prominent doctor who ran a flourishing hospital in Nimo and on the other had , Kpajie, Chief MN Anakor was the Area Manager (East) First Bank, Enugu. These two men who weilded positions of influence in Nimo were close and friendly and this relationship later brought their spouses together. Then in 1987, Paul was in US and Chinwe was at the University of Ibadan studying Medicine. During one of his visits to Nigeria then, Paul indicated interest in having a partner, Kpajie Senior didn't mince words in directing Paul to pay a visit to Dr Chidume home in Nimo to introduce himself and to make his intention known to Dr Chidume.
ln a synopsis, this was how Paul-Chinwe Anakor started by proxy.
Both didn't know each other but the sheer determination to share their lives gave the zeal to forge together in life.
Chinwe possessed some stirring qualities that made the brand name Paul-Chinwe adorable, exemplary and inimitable and a few salient ones are these:
1. Chinwe was humble --this was a natural charm to Paul.
2. Chinwe was submissive -- she got she desired from Paul.
3. Chinwe was trustworthy -- she positively controlled the family finances.
4. Chinwe was friendly -- she was Paul's best friend.
5. Chinwe was respectful -- Paul took her out everywhere.
6. Chinwe was peaceful -- Paul was always at home with her.
7. Chinwe was slow-tempered -- she knew how to manage family misunderstandings and arguments.
8. Chinwe was selfless -- Paul relied completely on her.
9. Chinwe was ambitious -- she the pinnacle of her career as Dr Chinwe Chidume - Anakor
10. Chinwe was optimistic -- hence the brand Paul-Chinwe trained their offsprings, Nkechi Pettway, Ifeoma Okoye, Chinelo Anakor and Okechukwu Junior to be Nurse Anesthetist, Dr Anesthetist, Medical doctor and an engineer respectively .
The brand Paul-Chinwe was so popular and exemplary that the name reverberates throughout Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas; Texas as a whole and US in general.
l pray that Our Lord gives Kpajie Paul ,Nkechi , Ifeoma, Chinelo and Jnr. the fortitude to bear the loss and that Chinwe's soul should rest in peace.
IJN, Amen.

My great friend, Dr, Lady Chinwe Stella Chidume Anakor, an angel on earth.
It is with deep sorrow and a grieving heart that I pen this message especially as I won't be at your funeral.

Chinwe was a mother, daughter, sister, relative and friend anyone would be proud to have as one of the above.

Chinwe was a quiet, unassuming, shy, honest, faithful, generous to fault, reserved, posh but assertive lady.

She was a genius, highly intelligent and creative guru.
Whilst we were Uni, she would go to every party we went, as Tessy, Chidi and I were her closest friends. When asked for her course, Chinwe would say Education because she was embarrassed to say she was a Medical
Student , Just in case people thought she was unserious.
When we left University of Ibadan she became an SU (scripture union member)☺️😔

When she was about to wed Paul, she was seriously warned not to say she was an SU as he might see her as an overzealous Christian and run away. But as soon as Paul came for her hand in marriage, she told him, "I am an SU member" To which he replied, ehn ehn, I am a pastor too 🤣I guess the rest was history until the fateful day of 20th of June 2025, when she went to meet with The Lord.

Thank you so much Paul for being a wonderful husband, friend and partner to our beautiful friend. For also caring for her to the end.

Thank you for being her helper in the kitchen too. God bless you immensely 🙏🏾

Although she came from a very privileged and rich background, she did not live a ostentatious lifestyle neither did she have any chip on her shoulder.
She was very humble and was very conscious where every penny went.
Most of the clothes she wore, shoes and bags she carried were designed by her. She could also knit.

She never quarrelled or gossiped about anyone. She was too quiet for that. She was the epitome of love.
She would go round shops, buy clothes, shoes, bags etc, put them in big boxes and send them to many people in Nigeria, for many years, so they can sell and have some money.

Nkechi, Ifeoma, Chinelo and Jay. Thank you for loving your mum, the way she loved you and for taking great care of her. God bless you, take care of you and cause His face to shine upon you at all times, in her absence IJMN. Amen

Chinwe Chidume Anakor, you will be greatly missed by me. I cherished every moment you and Paul will come over here and see me.

Your heart was pure and kind. You are one of the first people I call, when the new year clocks 12am, your birthday. I will miss that and our lengthy talks and laughter into the night. You had an infectious and sincere laughter.

You loved The Lord with all your strength and might just like He instructed. You were a prayer warrior and you had the faith that could move mountains.
You ran your race and finished victorious.

Chinwe my dearest friend, sleep well at the bosom of The Lord till we meet again.🥲
