In Memory of
Hope Sheffield Manning
-

Hope Manning of Cypress, Texas passed away at the age of 80 on September 1, 2020 in Katy, Texas.  She was born on July 7, 1940 in Houston, Texas to Noel Sheffield and Ileedis (Carroll) Sheffield.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Tina Wilson and Kimberly Kirsch; Son-in-law, Rick Wilson; grandchildren, Dane Wilson, Tristan Wilson, Tasha Green, Justin Sanders and Amanda Kirsch; and great- grandchildren, Vivian Wilson and Everett Wilson.

She worked most of her life as a secretary/bookkeeper/receptionist.  One of her very first jobs was an elevator operator at the Rice Hotel in downtown Houston.

Hope cherished time spent with all of her family members, and deeply loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved to shop and watch old country & western shows.   She loved animals – especially cats and ducks, and angels – has a huge collection of angel figurines which she has left to her granddaughter, Amanda, who also loves angels.  She enjoyed dining out and going to the “picture show,” as she called it, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her two best pals – Cinda and Sylvia.

Above all, Hope was thoughtful, generous and giving – she would give a stranger the shirt off her back. She will be deeply missed.

Services will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in the Chapel of Beresford Funeral Service.  Visitation will start at 11:00 a.m. and the memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m.    Her remains will be buried at The Houston National Cemetery, alongside her late husband A.T. Manning, Jr.  No graveside ceremony.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the caregivers who helped Tina take care of Hope in the final months – the team at Crossroads, and Hope’s friend, Cinda Mince, who came to care for her, and spend time with her daily.  And to all of our friends and family members who have been so loving and supportive.
