They would go on to have two more children and relocate to Houston, TX where they raised their three kids and lived most of their life. John become president of States Geophysical after the passing of his father, Hubert Schiflett, in the 70’s. John lived an exciting life in Houston and owned his very own plane where he would fly to see his oldest daughter while she was attending college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. John enjoyed raising his two boys and was especially proud to be their coach on many football and baseball teams. He was thrilled when his second oldest went off to play college football and won the national championship at Austin college in Sherman, TX. John was never happier than when his youngest took after his love of horses and began his own legacy on the tailrides in TX just as John had done. John was such a proud father of all three of his children. Later in life, after the split of John and Marily, John went on to marry Linda Levine. John and Linda made a wonderful life in Weatherford, TX living on lots of land with all their horses, dogs and cats. John went on to become a well-known and beloved bus driver for their local school district and all the children adored riding on John’s bus. John loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen about his grandchildren and all their success in life. He loved that his oldest granddaughter followed in her father’s footsteps and graduated from the University of Houston and went on to have a successful carrier. He was so proud of his second oldest granddaughter for climbing the corporate ladder in the insurance industry and making a name for herself. He loved that his first grandson followed in his own footsteps and went off to THE University of Texas and graduated with many accolades. He was so proud of his youngest grandson competing in the strongman competitions all across the great state of Texas and loved to talk about that. John also had five step-grandchildren that he was so proud of. One that went off to have an amazing family and carrier of his own, one went off to the military that he was so proud of and talked about often, one who went off and ran for school board and was so successful in all she did, one who went off to become a flight attendant, and another who become a wonderful mother to two and successful in all she did. John is survived by his wife Linda, three children; Scarlett, Jason and Aaron, nine grandchildren; Meagan, Meredith, Mitchell, Wyatt, Colby, Morgan, Bobby, Mia and Taylor, ten great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters and countless nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father and mother. Services for John will be held at Beresford Funeral Home at 13501 Alief Clodine Rd. Houston, TX 77082 on February 17, 2024 at 1:30pm.
