Kenneth Wallis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by loved ones and compassionate care at Houston Hospice. A resident of Houston, Texas, Ken lived a full and vibrant life marked by deep faith, loving family ties, and a generous spirit.
Born on August 26, 1944, to Leroy R. Wallis and Tommye Snead, Ken was raised in San Antonio alongside his seven brothers and sisters. He graduated from Highlands High School, where he began a lifelong passion for sports. He continued his education and played football at Trinity University in San Antonio, before earning a degree in Finance from the University of Houston.
On January 19, 1963, Ken married the love of his life, Judith Mayne, in San Antonio. Their 62-year marriage was one of unwavering devotion, joy, and shared purpose. Together, they raised three children who carry forward his legacy of
integrity, warmth, and service.
Ken's working life was spent in sales, primarily in the heavy equipment industry. He took great pride in his work and especially valued the relationships he built.
Outside of his career, Ken found joy in the simple pleasures of life: spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, playing golf, and cheering on his children and grandchildren in their many athletic pursuits. His love of sports never waned, and he remained an enthusiastic fan throughout his life.
For over a decade, Ken and Judy were deeply involved in Episcopal Marriage Encounter, where they supported other couples in building strong, faith-centered marriages. Their shared commitment to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany spanned more than five decades, where Ken served faithfully in numerous lay and leadership roles.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Cecil, Donnie, Helen, Alice, and Clifford. He is survived by his brother Bill and sister Joyce, his loving wife Judy, and his children and their spouses: Bill and Karen Wallis, Jeff and Kelly Wallis, and Allyson and Mark Campsey. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kate (Richard Harms), Taylor (Misha Gorditsa), Grace Wallis, Abby Wallis, Trevor Campsey, John Wallis, and Emily Wallis; and a delighted great-grandfather to Will Harms, Blair Harms, and Milena Gorditsa.
A service in celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Houston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nantz National Alzheimer Center, Cure Sanfilippo Foundation, Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, or Houston Hospice.
Ken Wallis will be remembered for his gentle strength, warm humor, steadfast faith, and the deep love he showed his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
