HOUSTON, TEXAS — Leocadio "Leo" Alvarez, 77, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026. Born on September 16, 1948, in San Benito, Texas, to Miguel and Juanita Alvarez. Leo will be remembered as a devoted family man and a proud veteran.
Leo, known as "Big Al" to his Army buddies, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and was so proud. In his free time, he enjoyed
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Juanita Alvarez, brothers, Miguel "Sone" Alvarez and Leonel "Leo" Alvarez.
Leo is survived by his wife, Francisca "Paquita" Alvarez; his daughters, Francy Yager and Maribel Everett; and his son, Mario Alvarez. He also leaves behind his granddaughters, Heather Hassenflu and Natalia Cerda; his brothers, Gaston Alvarez and Gustavo Alvarez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private visitation will be held for family, followed by interment at the Houston National VA Cemetery on February 16, 2026 at 12:30pm sharp.

spending time with friends and family, gardening, cooking, listening to music and watching some of his favorites on TV including wrestling, baseball, football and of course, his western movies. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Juanita Alvarez, brothers, Miguel "Sone" Alvarez and Leonel "Leo" Alvarez.
