In Memory of
Ruby Faye Lovelace
-

Ruby Faye Smith Lovelace, April 12, 1931- December 9, 2023

Ruby Faye Lovelace went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 9th. Confident in the work of Christ on the cross, she has entered into her Heavenly rest and is at peace.

Born in 1931 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma as the third child of John Elston and Gladys Giger Smith, Ruby spent her young years growing up on a family watermelon farm.  She recounted many stories of her adventures on the rural farm in a small dirt-floor house and attending a one room schoolhouse.  It was a simple life, but a joyous childhood.

She met her husband, H.D. Lovelace, while attending college at Oklahoma A&M University, which is now Oklahoma State University. They married halfway through her sophomore year in 1954 and were married for 57 years before his passing in 2011.

After graduating with a Master’s in Clothing and Textile, Ruby and her husband moved to Richardson, Texas in 1959 and shortly afterwards began their family which grew to 3 daughters and 2 adopted sons. Ruby taught sewing classes at the local YMCA while raising her young family and was heavily involved in Richardson Heights Baptist Church. If the church doors were open, she and H.D. were there – with their 5 kids in tow!

After a brief move to Tulsa, Oklahoma, the family relocated to Sugar Land, Texas in 1973 where they lived for the next 36 years. Ruby began driving a school bus for Fort Bend ISD and eventually worked her way up to Operations Supervisor of the Transportation Department by the time she retired in 1999.

Ruby and H.D. moved to Cypress in 2009 to be near her daughter and was involved at Cypress Bible Church. Her heart and mission was to generously give and love others. She especially enjoyed excursions and lunches with the Senior Saints and her Sunday Morning Bible Study ladies.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, H.D., her parents and siblings and her youngest son, Mark Alan Lovelace. She is survived by her three daughters, Debra (Bob) Tolson, Sonya (Pat) Stone, Dana (Dave) Mennen, John Lovelace and many grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren!

A Memorial Service for Ruby will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 10:30am in the Chapel at Cypress Bible Church in Cypress, TX.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Bristol Park Cypress and Altus Hospice for their loving and attentive care in her final days.  You were a comfort to her and to her family.  Also, to her caregiver, Summer – you will always hold a special place in our hearts for adopting our mom as your mom and caring for her as you would your own.

Ruby wholeheartedly supported her kids and grandkids in their mission to tell others about Jesus, both those in vocational ministry and those participating on short-term teams.  In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a contribution to the ministry of Tucker and Abbey Bennett (Abbey is Ruby’s g’daughter), donations can be made by clicking here.

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”  (II Cor. 5:8)

Your mom is such an inspiration to families wanted to raise children up in the Lord. God truly blessed her and now is into eternity.
