In Memory of
Sandra Lynn Laird
-

Sandra Lynn Laird “Sandy”, 79, took the hand of Jesus and entered into eternal rest on July 29, 2022. After nearly a year of fighting pancreatic cancer, her battle-scarred body finally had all it could take, and she "fell asleep" at around 7 am at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands.

Sandy was born as the youngest of three girls and two boys on January 30, 1943, in Galveston, Texas, to Joseph F. Kitchen and Doris (Hibbard) Kitchen. Sandy was in the first graduating class of 1961 at South Houston High School. Sandy found the love of her life through a blind date, Freddie Laird, and on January 8, 1962, they became one. In August 1965 they adopted their only son, Scottie Laird. Sandy worked for the U.S. Federal Government for over 20 years and retired as a Government Contracting Officer and Negotiator. Sandy traveled with Freddie to places all over the world – 74 different countries to be exact, and lived in 4 of them. Their last overseas assignment was for 7 years in Tokyo, Japan. During this time, Sandy became a very popular model, singer and television actress – she was adored by everyone from Japan all the way down to New Zealand.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, brother Mel Wayne “Skeegie” Kitchen, and her two sisters, Betty Thibodeaux and Joyce “Bobbie” Moncebaiz.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Freddie Laird, and her son and his wife, Scottie and Helen Laird of Magnolia, Texas, her brother and his wife, Joe “Bubba” and Joyce Kitchen of Decker Prairie, Texas; brother-in-law Jerry Laird of Tomball, Texas, sister-in-law Carolyn Laird Wilcox of Conroe, Texas, one Aunt, Roberta House of Watonga, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 11 am at the Oklahoma Cemetery located in south Montgomery County, Magnolia, Texas, between Tomball and The Woodlands.

In lieu of flowers, Sandy had requested donations in her name to the charity of your choice, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a 501c charity that funds pancreatic cancer research and associated programs.

Everything Sandy did, she did with love. Every place she went, every person she touched, was made more beautiful just by her being there. The world is a much better place now because she was here, and her beauty and love will remain a part of so many hearts forever.
