"Every good and perfect gift is from above…" James 1:17.
"... All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be..." Psalm 139:16.
Terry Gay Buckingham, 56, completed her journey and went home to Glory August 31, 2015 after a three year battle with Dementia. Her radiance and exuberant joy for life will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Terry was born to Bill and Helen Buckingham April 17, 1959. She is survived by her brother, Michael R. Buckingham & wife Diane, and her sisters Cheryl Lee Buckingham Kaiser & husband Don, and Sandra Kay Buckingham Lacy & husband Jack, and also by her six nephews Zachary M. Buckingham, Austin M. Buckingham, Noah R. Buckingham, Stephen J. Lacy, Matthew W. Lacy, and Joseph R. Lacy, and her niece, Cheri R. Kaiser, and several great nieces and nephews.
Her favorite things were people, hugs, McDonalds, food, parties, affection and relationships. She was a bright light everywhere she went - often bringing smiles and hugs to willing strangers by her happy, loving demeanor. Her enthusiasm and exuberant positive attitudes were contagious. Terry was quick to be genuinely sorrowful if corrected, always willing to forgive, and rarely held a grudge. Smiles were part of her daily clothing. She loved to laugh at her own jokes, and also to laugh along with others even if she wasn't completely sure why they were laughing. She was also very perceptive and let it be known what she liked and disliked.
Characteristics of her Creator were modeled on a regular basis - unconditional love, mercy, joy, delight, patience, long-suffering, and peace. One day at a time came as natural to her as breathing. If told "tomorrow" she didn't chafe, pout, or complain if disappointed, she just found something else to focus on - or happily reminded you regularly so you didn't
forget. She loved worship at church and frequently caused traffic jams hugging the stuffing out of folks passing by.
"Exuberance is beauty." - William Blake.
Terry lit up the stage of life and received each day with joy on one level or another. She was transparent, loyal and loved to be given opportunities to "help". She radiated a happy energy that illuminated the lives around her. A precious gift from God, she demonstrated perseverance and endurance with her health battles and still found reasons to smile and be content. Although limited in vocabulary, Terry lived what she wanted to say. She lived grace - and few that knew her well could resist her God given charm and personality. Terry was strong, simple, smart, true - and light, laughter and love personified. Terry has a legacy in the heart of everyone that knew and loved her and were wise enough to value and learn from her. Her life was a powerful lesson for all of us. Terry celebrated the incredible gift of life vibrantly all of her days. She contributed to life unceasingly by demonstrating it's value by finding joy even in small things and by facing it's powerful challenges with perseverance and courage and few complaints. She will never be forgotten, and her memory will always be greatly cherished by those who loved her, and held closely in our hearts until we meet again on the other side. In the interim, we are diminished without her iridescent sunshine to light up our world.
A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Brazos Bend Baptist Church (on FM 762 just south of the state park). A private family burial will take place in East Texas at a later date.

Most especially, we are eternally grateful to Him and praise Him mightily for her amazing and loving team of caregivers who were indispensable and became family to us all as they ministered His love and excellent care on a daily basis: Kathy, Heidi and Hannah Mathems, Marci Arsenault, Rebekah Marsh, Jodie Schwentner, Diane Solis, Liza Gomez, Jamie Mathems, Sarah Massagee, Abigail Rojas, Anjelica Rojas, Brittany Wheeler, and Caitlyn James.
Also, we rejoice for Deacon Ray Mathems and Brazos Bend Baptist Church for sharing their facilities and for Pastor Kenny Dean of the Bridge/Palladium for his support, encouragement and contagious passion for God.
May He bless this awesome “Terry Team” abundantly - pressed down and over-flowing - in return for all they have poured out!
"I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…" Psalm 139:14.
