Wallace Marion Darjean, fondly known to family and friends as “Marion”, was born in Sunset, Louisiana on September 17, 1942 to Wallace Darjean and Mable Broussard Darjean. Marion was the fourth child in a family of nine children.
Marion was preceded in death by his father Wallace Darjean, one brother, Harold Darjean and one sister, Dorothy Darjean LeDee.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mable Darjean, his daughter, Cherye-Ann DeLong (Wolff); grandson, Blake McNamee; three sisters, Emma Lee Auzenne of Lawtell LA; Lillie Marie Poullard (Paul) of Houston, TX; Catherine Boudreaux (Joe) of Houston, TX; four brothers; Paul Darjean (Melba) of Crosby, TX; Carroll Darjean of Houston, TX; Donald Darjean (Pauline) of Baton Rouge, LA; Glenn Darjean (Gail) of Lake Charles, LA., and a host of nieces, nephews and numerous other family and friends.
Marion was
Marion graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School in Lawtell, LA, where he was active in both Basketball and Baseball, but his favorite pastimes included hunting rabbits & birds, and fishing. Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Army receiving his basic training at Ft. Polk, LA. While serving his country he distinguished himself in many ways including; serving as an Honor Guard for a visit by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II; functioning as a French language interpreter; and, serving as a guard at Spandau Prison in Berlin, Germany, whose sole occupant at the time was Rudolf Hess, the infamous Nazi war criminal.
Upon returning home, Marion decided to relocate to Houston, TX, eventually owning and managing his own Gulf/Chevron service station for over 30 years. His business was not only a first start for numerous job seekers, but also a “must” stop for family, friends, and acquaintances visiting from other parts of the country. He was always generous with his gifts and felt it was a blessing to be in a position to help others.

Marion was
a very strong willed and determined individual which was manifested in various aspects of his personal and business life, from his dedication to family and observance of his Catholic faith, to his hard work and determination to succeed in his chosen business field. Growing up in a large family on a farm instilled in him the disciplines of hard work, independence, sharing, and willingness to help others in need.
