In Memory of
Winston Lee Heung
-

Winston Lee Heung, better known as "Alook" to his family, was born on April 15, 1930, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies.

Winston was born deaf. In 1976, he lost his first eye, and in 1985 he lost his second eye - both due to glaucoma. Dr. Richard L. Kimbrough, Houston Eye Associates, took excellent care of Winston and did everything possible to save his eyes during these trying years of his life. We will never forget his kindness to Winston. Thank you Dr. Kimbrough.

Winston's mother, Lillian Lee Heung, passed away in 1981. They were very close, so this became very saddened days for him as he felt so lost without her.

Winston stayed at the Lighthouse of Houston, and was with them for the past 27 years - until August 15, 2009. Shelagh Moran originally placed Winston in a daytime program. Michele Paoletti-Schelp placed him in an after hours program - which they both personally had set up. Over the past 27 years, Jane, Helen Sangree, Susanne Garza, Sharon May, Stephen Schoen, John Picket, Nickie Sereal, Sandra Spheeris, Connie Almeida, Mrs. Booser, Felix, Kaye Lantz, Addie and most especially, Peggy Traylor, who all took part in Winston's daily care. Winston's family cannot begin to thank each and everyone of these kind people for all they have done for him during these years at the Lighthouse. We also realize the difficulty they had dealing with him during the last days of his life. But, we want them all to know that Winston is now with MaMa laughing, talking, hearing and seeing. And, most of all he is in the midst of our loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, who has welcomed him with open arms

I am sorry to read of your loss. Many have experienced the death of a loved one. In God's word,at Revelation chapter 21 verse 4, it reads, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor pain nor outcry be anymore. The former things have passed away."

I will not say good-by, but I will say "see you later at another time". I know you put on your danceing shoes and laughing and having a good time, your eyes are shining bright. You are looking down at us, and conveying that you are happy and not to be sad. I will leave you for now and say "again see you later".

I have many happy and fond memories of uncle Alook and Ma-Ma when they stayed with us in Brooklyn New York. I can remember my Mother getting uncle Alook squared away on taking the subway by himself to go to school and work while he was in New York. Most of all I remember when he and Ma-Ma lived around the corner from my Jr. High school and with my schedule permitting I had lunch with them. Yes nothing but good times with him. I feel sad because he is no longer here but at the same time joyful that he is with my Daddy, Ma-Ma and our lord and savoir Jesus Christ.
