Maegen Alexandria Johnson

Maegen Alexandria Johnson, 26, passed away on June 16, 2019.  She was born May 21, 1993 in Provo, Utah.

Maegen was living with her parents at the time of her passing.  She had suffered a traumatic brain injury back on July 26, 2012 due to a catastrophic auto accident, where she also lost her two younger sisters.  Prior to the accident Maegen was a quiet, shy but very thoughtful and spiritual young woman.  She was engaged within her church and faith, having completed four years of seminary, earning her Young Women’s Recognition award, and serving various youth leadership roles.  Additionally, she had earned a scholarship to attend BYU Idaho.  She was an accomplished artist, having worked with multiple medias from oils, pencils, water colors to papier-mâché, pottery and stain glass.  She loved the arts and at one point was featured in a local Houston gallery. 

Aside from art, Maegen had an affinity to animals, especially dogs.  She was considered a “dog whisper” among her friends because whenever there was a dog, it would go straight to Maegen.  While she loved art and sought to be an artist, she recognized she did not want to be a starving one, so she was setting out to be a veterinarian, to work with the other thing she loved - dogs. 

After the accident in July 2012, Maegen became completely incapacitated because of her brain injury.  This did not stop her from being an example to others.  She continued to inspire others to be their best as she showed her determination in various therapy settings and still finding opportunities to smile.  While in this state, she was still able to invoke her “dog whispering” skills with her service dog, Mr. Hercules Johnson, a Teacup Yorkie.  He remained at her side all these years. 

She is survived by her parents, Stephen Casey Johnson and Pearlette Hicks Johnson; siblings Krystle Pearl Johnson and Ian Stephen Johnson; grandparents Stephen Morgan Johnson, Thelma Luella Johnson, and Pearl Jean Hicks.  Maegen is preceded by her two younger sisters, Tristen Luella Johnson and Madeliene Dianna Johnson (both passed away on July 26, 2012), and her older brother, Sjon Trent Johnson (passed away on May 25, 2015).

Maegen was a wonderful, compassionate daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
