Shantae Shannette Thompson, 48, passed away July 20th, 2026, in Sugar Land, TX, surround by many loved ones. Shantae was born on April 2, 1978, in Galveston, TX to Winston and Barbara Thompson.
Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Missouri City, Texas, where she was raised. She attended Fort Bend Independent Schools and graduated from Willowridge High School in 1996, where she proudly sang in the school choir. After graduating, she continued her education at Houston Community College where she studied Culinary Arts.
Shantae had a heart that naturally cared for others. She believed that family was one of God’s greatest blessings, and she made sure the people she loved knew they were important to her, whether it was a birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, a holiday, or simply an ordinary day, she would call, text, or reach out with words of encouragement, wishing everyone a blessed day and asking how they were doing. Those thoughtful acts of love became one of the many ways she showed she cared.
Her faith was an important part of her life. As a devoted member of Missouri City Seventh-day Adventist Church, she faithfully served as a greeter, with her warm smile and welcoming spirit, she helped make everyone who entered the church feel welcomed and at home.
Above all else, Shantae was a proud and loving mother. Nothing brought her greater joy than talking about her two beautiful daughters Yazmin and Sara. She celebrated every accomplishment, no matter how big or small, and dreamed of a future filled with happiness, success, and God’s blessings for both of them. Her love for her daughters was deep, unconditional, and everlasting.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Yazmin Thompson and Sara Thompson; her mother, Barbara Thompson; her siblings, Donnette (David) Williams, Colin (Penelope) Thompson, and Kayla Edmond; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Winston O. Thompson.
As we say our earthly goodbyes, we hold on to one of Shantae’s favorite sayings: “God’s got me.” Those words carried her through life’s many challenges and joys. Today they bring comfort to all who loved her.
Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we are grateful for the memories Shantae leaves behind. We will remember her beautiful smile, her caring heart, her devotion to family, and the ways she made others feel loved.
We find peace in knowing that God did indeed have Shantae then, and He has her now. Rest peacefully, Shantae. God had you all along.
