In Memory of
Marcia Lee Schroeder
-

Marcia Lee Schroeder (affectionately called Marcy) passed away of complications from leukemia on December 23, 2014, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 77. Marcy was surrounded by her loving family. She was a long time resident of the Lake Jackson area. Marcy previously resided in Houston, TX; Lake Charles, LA; North Canton, Ohio.

Marcy is survived by her husband, Ervin Schroeder, of 56 years; her son, Timothy Schroeder, of Missouri City; her daughter, Cynthia Breton, of Sugar Land; her granddaughter, Jennifer Breton; her grandson, Michael Breton; her sister, Carol Jackson and her brother, Don Metzger of San Antonio. She is preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Metzger; her father, Jacob Metzger, of Barberton, Ohio.

Marcy Metzger was born on September 19, 1937 in Kenmore, Ohio, to parents Jacob and Vivian Metzger. She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1955.

Marcy was a loving wife and mother. She married Ervin Schroeder in 1958 and the couple had two children together. Her husband is an executive at Shintech in Freeport.

Marcy was best known as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she did work as a radio announcer at a radio station and was a top producing realtor before devoting her time to various civic organizations.

Marcy was a passionate, enthusiastic and outgoing woman who was deeply involved in various social activities in the Lake Jackson and Houston area for many years. She enjoyed volunteering, grandchildren, and crafts. Marcy loved to travel and was fortunate to visit all seven continents; the love of travel and cultures is something she shared with her family. Marcy was an accomplished soloist and artist in fine needlework. Her musical talent and needlework were admired by many. Her family and friends will always remember her as a generous, sincere, candid woman.

Marcy was a community leader in Lake Jackson for Safety Town, Inner Wheel (Rotary spouse organization), and Wednesday Review. She was also involved in the following organizations within Lake Jackson and other communities: Brazosport Republican Women’s Club, Junior Achievement, Scouting leader (Girl & Boy Scouts), and Meals on Wheels. Participating within Episcopal churches, Marcy was chairperson of a church building fund, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, children’s choir director, and lay reader. She made prayer shawls for cancer patients, since she had personally survived stage 3 breast cancer and loved all types of needlework. Her legacy of volunteering will live on in her family.

A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00am with a reception to follow at Ascension Episcopal Church, 2525 Seager Road, Houston, TX. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marcy's life. The family would like to thank all that have donated blood and platelets for all cancer patients. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be sent to the Briarwood School, ATTN: Marcy Schroeder Scholarship Fund, 12207 Whittington Drive, Houston, TX 77077.

It has been a blessing to know Aunt Marcy. I so enjoyed listening to her stories, making me smile and laugh. But she won my heart with her sincere hospitality to my Navy son, her great-nephew. For that I will always be grateful.

My sympathy to you all on your loss and even though I only met Marcia for those lovely days we all spent on our trip in Egypt on tour back in 2006, I will always remember her as a lovely gentle classy lady surrounded by a family who loved her. Thoughts will be with you all.

I remember Aunt Marcy laughing and having a huge personality at all of the family reunions held in Indiana. She was always a lot of fun to be around. She and Uncle Ervin were very gracious to allow my father, Reuben, to live with them in Ohio to work and save money for his college education. That is something that I am thankful for because it allowed my dad the opportunity to get an education to eventually provide for his family. That generous deed has trickled down through our family and we have all benefited. She will be missed

My best memory is when we went to Texas to visit Aunt Marcy & Uncle Ervin with my parents. We had a great time and Aunt Marcy was such a good tour guide and hostess. She was so involved in many things but took the time to make sure we had a good visit. She will be missed.

I fondly remember when I first met Marcy when I was working with Todd and Cindy to find a home in Katy as they were relocating from Flower Mound. Marcy and I hit it off from the start (after she scoped out my Realtor capabilities), as we both have very strong personalities and are not shy about sharing our opinions. I will always remember her as warm, funny, loving, full of spunk and one of the strongest Women I have ever known. She loved her Family fiercely and believed that failure was not an option. I am truly honored to call her my friend and will miss her smile, candor and readiness for anything. Heaven has gained a special Woman and we will never forget her here on Earth.

About Marcy

Time to say farewell - now a week has passed.

We miss her still but tears won't bring her back.

The grieving process bound to last,

but in time, a lingering sense of loss along the track.

It's not that we were cheated by her passing,

she lived a life too full for such regret.

So let's live on as she would - mainly laughing,

and helping others - to make her memory sweeter yet.

Kevin

Aunt Marcy was one of the strongest persons that I have known. She never gave up. She was an example to others that might also face adversity that you persevere and continue with life. This was evident to me in her support of my brother Sam during his battle with cancer as well as her many health battles. They had their own private support group for each other. This appeared to help both of them.
Marcy has been a gracious hostess and supported both of my children at different times when they have visited the greater Houston, Texas, area. Our Navy son has been assigned to Navy bases in Texas the last two Thankgivings and never missed a family Thanksgiving due to Marcy and her family.

Thank you Aunt Marcy. You will be missed.

I will never forget the day I met Marcy. She & Erv had just bought my listing in Lakeside & we began our friendship from there. What a beautiful friendship it was. I never saw her down, no matter what stage she was in, she always managed a smile. I loved Marcy & will greatly miss her. I truly know that she is watching over her family with so much love & pride. She was so proud of each & every one of you! I will proudly wear red for Marcy. I love you guys!

We have not seen Marcy in Western Australia for many years but we were always reminded that she was in the picture somewhere. Many were the times we phoned the Schroeder residence late at night and Marcy would answer. Despite the hour you always felt welcome when Marcy answered and she was always bright and cheery. Then she would say " I will just get Erv."
Marcy, you were an important part of our team and I think you had much to say about events that transpired in Western Australia.
In years to come people will probably not remeber you by the car you drive or the house you lived in, but they will remember you for for the difference you made to peoples lives. Thank you Marcy. Rest in peace

"If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever"-Winnie the Pooh

Aunt Marcy has a larger that life presence that left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. One of my favorite things about her, was even in silence, with pressed lips and a half caulked smile you could feel her witty energy as she brainstormed her next grand idea.

In the weeks leading up to our wedding Bryan and I decided to cancel our honeymoon as my Uncle Sam's cancer took a turn for the worse. Marcy convinced us that's not what he would want and her and Uncle Erv so generously offered us to honeymoon at their Galveston condo so that we could easily return back home if need be. We enjoyed creating life time memories with them while visiting them in their home and dining together.

The stories she could tell, how her eyes would light up when sharing the love story of her parents. There was a certain spunk in her tone when she shared of her shopping adventures, and her giddy enthusiasm over travel . But most unforgettably, the sparkle in her eyes when she spoke of her precious grandchildren.

Peace be with you

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May God almighty father of tender mercies and all comfort continue to comfort you all (2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4). Please know that God has promised to completely remove death, tears, mourning, outcry and pain (Revelation 21:4). Indeed we all eagerly anticipate the fulfillment of these promise. The Bible also provides assurance of a real hope of reuniting with our dead loved ones in the coming new world (John 5: 28, 29). At a time like this the Bible is a true source of comfort and you can read it online and also learn further about God's purposes at www.jw.org
