In Memory of
Ross Emerson Bartlett
-

Bartlett - Ross Emerson, of Houston, died peacefully surrounded by loving family on Thursday, Feb. 28, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 76. Ross was born in Nebraska and graduated from The University of Houston with a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering. Ross worked as an engineer and rose through the corporate ranks to obtain the positions of vice president of Daniel Industries, later managing director of Daniel UK and Daniel Europe Limited.

Ross married Patricia Draper Omo in 1970 and formed an instant bond with her daughters, Cecile and Cindy Omo. Ross's greatest legacy was helping raise Cecile and Cindy. His management assignments took him to all corners of the world, including two extended assignments in Scotland, where he and Pat lived for seven years. He also shared his travels with the girls, taking the family all over Europe, Asia and the South Pacific, and inspiring a life-long love of travel and adventure in all.

Through the years and into retirement, Ross utilized his skills as a consummate engineer, building and remodeling houses, creating outdoor environments and fixing everything that needed repair. Ross was a strong neighborhood advocate, spearheading an effort to preserve the integrity of his community.

Besides his wife and two loving daughters Cecile and Cindy Omo, survivors include son-in-law Kent Cohen and granddaughter Katie Omo-Cohen, all of Houston.

For several years I worked with him on Contract documents for the measurement systems our company sold all over the world. This required me to write official correspondence on his behalf. He was a super proof-reader and for awhile, my drafts would come back redlined everywhere.......he told me that his mother was an English teacher. I am grateful that he was so diligent, it made me a much better correspondent! I learned alot from Ross and he was very supportive of my business goals and encouraged me to go to college to earn my degree. He is missed.
