Vernell was always a favorite cousin, friend, and mentor when I was growing up in Texas. She was like a big sister to me.

My father, Roy Behrens, Sr, used to farm for his sister Cora [Vernell's mom] after "Aunt Cokie's" husband died in the 1950's. It was a big farm and I have such fond memories of Easter egg hunts, feeding the chickens, picking cotton, and tending the large garden.

Vernell was always there to lead the way!! We had such great fun!

What I'll remember most and appreciate the most was her beautiful smile, warm nature and encouraging words! Life was hard sometimes, but she always had that smile!

I know if my parents were alive today, they would be heart broken to hear of her passing.

Vernell will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

I always will remember Vernell as a big sister growing up. Helping out at Aunt Cokie's farm was always a treat. As we got older and Debbie and Jada came along we looked forward to spending time with them as well.

Vernell always had a great laugh and a warm and friendly smile. I wil miss her.

I hope each of you can enjoy her memory and remember the many good times.

I will truly miss Vernell and all the wonderful times we shared as children. As growing up my fondest memories as a child included all the times I spent with Vernell and the games we use to play. Vernell made going to the farm and working hard more pleasurable because I knew she would make everything fun and exciting.

I will sincerely miss her and my prayers are with the family at this time of their grief.

Vernell was a bright spot in life, someone I had only come to know in the last few years. She was feisty, energetic and a pleasure to be around. Her warmth was sincere.

She will be looking down on all us, trying to keep us in line, but laughing at the trials and tribulations we go through.

I know the suffering she has gone through is now over and my heart goes with her. She will be missed, but she is in a better place now.
