Vivian Claire Hobson died on February, 13, 2013 at Houston Solari Hospice Care in Houston, Texas. She was 87 years old. Vivian was born on March 27, 1925, in Blue Island, Illinois to Richard George Moran and Paula Kaiser Moran. She graduated from Community High School in Blue Island, Illinois and DePaul University in Chicago. After DePaul, she worked for eight years at United Airlines in Chicago and Denver. She became a retail fashion buyer for many years for Henry C. Lytton's in Chicago, May D&F in Denver and Craig's in Houston, and managed the sportswear department for Bullock's of Palm Springs, California. She also spent many years in various capacities, including executive assistant, at Frasier Meadows Manor, and as a volunteer at the Boulder Humane Society after she retired.
Vivian dearly loved traveling the world and was able to travel to every continent except Australia and Antarctica. She was also an avid reader and participated in book clubs wherever she lived. She also spent much time and had many friends in the New York garment industry. She resided for the most part in Colorado, Illinois Texas and California. She was actively interested in world travel, literature, theater, the arts, sports and spending time with her beautiful granddaughter, Julia. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Harvest House Sporting Association/Rocky Mountain Tennis Center of Boulder, Colorado.
Survivors include her son, daughter-in law and granddaughter, Bernard, Pam and Julia Hobson of Richmond, Texas; a sister, Gloria Volp of Littleton, Colorado; nephew and niece, Dr. John and Joyce Volp, of Littleton, Colorado, and their children, Jennifer Volp-Gray (Mark & children Joseph & Zoe) and Richard Volp; and her many dear and close friends in the Boulder and Denver area.
A memorial service in Boulder is planned for later this summer, at a time, place and date to be determined.
